The following is an A-Z list of riders who are contracted to appear in 2011, at Elite League, Premier League and National League level.
NOTE: (1) All entries for the current season are as per the declared team line-ups, but do not necessarily relate to actual appearances for the named clubs, particularly in the case of No. 8 riders in the Elite League; (2) The symbol II after a team's name differentiates between a club's National level and higher league side, when more than one team was operated in the same season; (3) With regard to 'Club Honours', riders have been credited with a contribution to a league title-winning side if they rode in 6 or more matches of the team's league programme - and with a cup-winning contribution if they appeared in at least one leg of the final; (4) '2011 Starting Average' is each rider's figure at the beginning of the campaign or, indeed, if they joined after the start of the season. These are the official figures, which exclude bonus points. By contrast, all averages mentioned under 'Additional Info' are 'real-time' figures; this means the average a rider achieved from all official meetings, inclusive of bonus points; (5) The Speedway Grand Prix statistics will be updated for participating riders after each round of the 2011 series.

RIDERS - Y
YOUNG, Thomas (Tom) Andrew DATE OF BIRTH: 3 September 1991, Newport, Gwent, South Wales. BRITISH CAREER: (2009-11) Newport II. 2011 STARTING AVERAGE: 4.62 (NL). ADDITIONAL INFO: Young sustained a broken wrist in the opening heat of Newport Hornets’ Knock-Out Cup encounter versus Bournemouth at Queensway Meadows on 26 April 2009. He was subsequently replaced in the side’s declared line-up by Grant Tregoning at the beginning of May. However, having recovered, Young came back into the Hornets’ squad in the No. 8 position at the tail-end of June, when he took the place of Rich Andrews.
In November, Newport confirmed that the youngster would again appear for their National League side in 2010, but he was sidelined after suffering concussion in a National Trophy encounter at the Isle of Wight on 21 September. This occurred in heat seven of the meeting, when he lost control and fell in front of team-mate Tim Webster.
However, he returned to action in October and went on to total thirty-two appearances for the club, scoring 143 points for an average of 4.77. His best performance at home occurred on 12 September, when he netted 10+2 points from five starts in a National Trophy encounter versus Plymouth. Meanwhile, on the Hornets’ travels, his high spot occurred in a league match at Scunthorpe two days beforehand, when he notched 10+1 points from half-a-dozen rides.
On 4 February, having previously declared their intention to again run a second team at Newport in 2011, the Welsh club confirmed that Young would remain with the Hornets. He joined Aussies Jay Herne and Todd Kurtz, fellow Newportonians Jamie White-Williams and David Gough, plus Devonians Mattie Bates and Richard Andrews in the side’s starting line-up.
Young was to average around 4.5 points a match during the first sector of the campaign, but both him and David Gough lost their team places on 20 July, when the Hornets’ management announced the double signing of Brendan Johnson and Steven Jones. However, just a few days later, on 1 August, Young was re-instated and Jones released.
